• Kirk Session Minutes: 30 Jan 1715, Kirkliston, Linlithgowshire, Scotland. This day Doctor Buchanan gives in a Libell against Dougall McDougal and Agnes Ross his spouse complaining of them for slandering his name by saying he was guilty of uncleaness with Margret Ross the Madwoman when she was in the Tolbooth which he undertook to prove against them by three witnesses viz. John Flleeming, David Portess and Hellen Gray all in this Town, and the said Parties and Witnesses haveing been summoned to this day David Portess and Hellen Gray being called upon compeared, and being Interrogate declared they had heard Dougal McDougal & his wife say that Archibald Buchanan was guilty with the forsaid Margret Ross. John Flleeming being called upon compeared not. • Kirk Session Minutes: 6 Feb 1715, Kirkliston, Linlithgowshire, Scotland. This day Robert Jameson being called upon Compeared and being asked if he said to Dougal McDougal that Archibald Buchanan and Margret Ross were guilty of uncleaness he said he could not deny but that he said he heard so and give up Alexander Dick his fellow servant for his Author, who is ordered to be summoned against this day eight days. • Kirk Session Minutes: 13 Feb 1715, Kirkliston, Linlithgowshire, Scotland. This day William Lowrie being called compeared not as also Alexander Dick being called compeared not they are ordered to be summoned against this day eight days. • Kirk Session Minutes: 20 Feb 1715, Kirkliston, Linlithgowshire, Scotland. Alexander Dick being called upon compeared and being asked if he said to Robert Jamison that Mr Buchanan was guilty of the sin on uncleaness with Margret Ross he owned he said he heard it commonly talked. The Session thought fill that the persons who had spoken so of Mr Buchanan should be rebuked privily before themselves for scandalizing his name and talking by Hearsay. • Kirk Session Minutes: 27 Feb 1715, Kirkliston, Linlithgowshire, Scotland. This day the Session ordered Dougal McDougall, Agnes Ross his spouse, Alexander Dick and Robert Jameson to be summoned before them at their next meeting that they might be rebuked for scandalizing Archbald Buchanan. • Kirk Session Minutes: 20 Mar 1715, Kirkliston, Linlithgowshire, Scotland. This day Dougal McDougal, Agnes Ross, Alexander Dick and Robert Jameson being called upon compeared not. The Session ordered to give them to Bailzie Willson to punish them for their contumacy. Dugal married Agnes Ross. (Agnes Ross was born circa 1685 in Scotland.) |
